Salima Oustou's latest work reflects her mystical and spiritual journey. Her work a series of Kaaba, also known as the sacred house of GOD is a holy symbol which an inner and external compass. From an artistic perspective it's a black cubus, with a veil, from a spiritual perspective it's a direction (Qibla) for every muslim. One direction where every muslim in the world bows towards God. She sees the Kaaba as the alchemist object that reflects a mystical and spiritual journey. The painting process feels like a personal pilgrimage a journey that transforms her vision about the Kaaba. Each individual has a Kaaba in her or his heart, therefore one does not need to undergo the pilgrimage physically to feel the energy of GOD. Only time and context has changed the form, but every religion needs an object or ritual to connect. For the jews it is the walling wall and for the muslims the Kaaba. The Kaaba is the center of the world, with the gate to heaven In her work she wishes to reflect the door to the soul.
